We have visited Thailand so many times we can find our way around Bangkok with our eyes closed but now there is going to be an exciting new development on the city’s skyline.
Work on the MahaNakhon skyscraper is set to begin this autumn and after seeing some images of the design we have to say it looks pretty cool.
Designed by Ole Scheeren of the Office of Metropolitan Architecture, whose work can be seen in New York, Los Angeles, Beijing and Singapore to name but a few places, the whopping 77-storey tower block will create the illusion of a digital pixellation.
It features a series of irregularly stacked terraces and protrusions which break up the surface and frankly looks just like the kind of eye-catching, crazy creation that would have us whipping out our camera.
The building will feature 200 flats and while we are green with envy at the thought of anyone living in such a unique apartment we will have to settle for dining out at the restaurant which will occupy the top of the skyscraper.
At 300 metres tall we reckon that will give us a good view.
