Forget about having a white Christmas this year, it’s high time you indulged in a red Christmas.
Let’s face it, it’s not going to snow this Yule (it never does) and if you want to get away from the grey, miserable weather that comes as standard with most British Christmases you could do worse than heading to Mexico.
And there’s no better place to spend Christmas than in Mexico’s Oaxaca City.
Before the Christian festivities get into full swing, Oaxaca celebrates the Noche de Rabanos or Night of the Radishes.
The Noche de Rabanos is an unusual festival to say the least and sees the people of the city getting together with a huge array of homemade sculptures crafted out of red radishes.
Oaxaca’s central square, the Zocalo, is the focus of the city-wide exhibition.
So if you want to escape the cutting-edge Christmas music that Mika will undoubtedly unleash on the world and see something a little off the wall you should book your holiday to Mexico now.
