If there’s one animal that holds us in thrall here at Black Tomato, it’s the tiger. It’s just tragic that these majestic big cats have been hunted almost to extinction and we can assure you that seeing one in real life is an experience to treasure.

For animal lovers, then it’s right up there with whale watching as a must-do.

Rajasthan in India is lucky to have people working hard to save the country’s tigers and two nature reserves there are dedicated to preserving the creatures without putting them into captivity.

Visiting Kanha and Bandhavgarh National Parks for the first time was a moving experience, especially when we found that there are only 1,141 tigers in the whole of the country, according to the Wildlife Institute of India’s last census.

As our little group quietly watched a beautiful tiger wandering through the undergrowth, we realised how important it is to look after what exists on earth – after all, it’s all we’ve got.

Experiencing Rajasthan for yourself will allow you to see what a huge task India’s conservation workers face. We can organise it for you as part of our Rajasthan – give us a call and you’ll understand why we’re so passionate about saving these striking animals.
