It maybe famous for its winter slopes, but we think Whistler has just as much to shout about in summer. Jump into your prearranged hired car at Vancouver and head north towards Whistler. This breathtaking 2.5 hour drive will take you through Canada’s most scenic landscapes: emerald-blue lakes, alpine forests and mountainous terrain – a tad different to your daily commute. Pull into the Four Seasons Resort at the base of Blackcomb Mountain where you’ll be staying for two nights.

Whilst the view from your room is simply spectacular, there’s an even better way to see the landscape: up above dangling from a zipline. Whizz across 33 acres of luscious alpine forests, steep cliffs and deep creeks over a series of 5 zipline cables. If you still haven’t had enough exhilaration why not let us arrange a quad bike tour, ski-dooing on the glaciers, or even a glide on a floatplane. Alternatively, soak up some rays by your hotel pool while admiring the dramatic mountain views.

into the wild: sonora

Next up, head towards Vancouver Island by car and ferry, before meeting a boat at Campbell River to whiz you to Sonora Resort.

Here you’ll be faced with uncompromising adventure teamed with luxurious accommodation. And the cherry on the cake? Everything is inclusive. Yep, that includes the mini bar in your room. The surroundings will make feel like you’re on the set of a National Geographic documentary: bold eagles soaring above you, grizzly bears hunting for fish and gushing waterfalls falling around you.

Endless activities will keep you occupied, from fly fishing to kayaking and heli-tours to golfing. But for those who just want to sit back and relax, fear not. The well stocked games room, home cinema room and a world class spa will keep you occupied.

vancouver: a city of glass

After soaking up some Canadian wilderness, head back to Vancouver for some urban adventure. You’ll be settling in Vancouver’s tallest building at the opulent Shangri-La hotel, putting you in easy reach of all the hotspots in Vancouver, the world’s ‘most liveable city.’ Cycle past shimmering glass skyscrapers reflected in the waters surrounding this stunning peninsula. Head towards Stanley Park, a thousand-acre forest, where you can cycle through giant trees and Haida totem poles. Take a break on ‘The Drive’ and sip on delicious coffee.

For the foodies, lure yourself in the early morning to the Granville Public Market where an array of food dress the market stalls. In the evenings tuck into some amazing sushi at Yaletown where hip restaurants line the paved brick street. But if you’re still longing for some outdoor adventure, there is plenty of hiking, kayaking and a must-do hike (with the locals) up Grouse Mountain. There’s nothing like ending on a high.
