Five aspiring film makers from across the globe have been named as the lucky few to compete in ‘Your Big Break’- an international short film competition sponsored by Tourism New Zealand.
The competition involved applicants submitting a three-minute screen-play that captures the spirit of New Zealand, the ‘youngest country on earth’, and the country’s extraordinary landscapes, people and culture.

The final five will have two days in Queenstown to shoot their short film after which they will then move to Wellington for post production with the help of Barrie Osbourne, the producer of Lord of the Rings.
The completed five films will get a special premiere in Hollywood at the 25th Film Independent Spirit Awards on 5 March 2010 and the winner will be picked by none other, Sir Peter Jackson, director of the Lord of the Rings trilogy.
