We live in a world where everything is accessible through the web. So it was only a matter of time before we could actually travel virtually.
Google maps has pushed the boundaries again. Well not really. They’ve basically complied 40 videos that film the entire Trans-Siberian Railway journey from start to finish. The video is interactive with the map so you’re able to track the train’s journey and drag the cursor forward with the video moving in synch. Are you excited yet? Well wait for it.
There are various songs and books recommended so that your ‘travel’ is enhanced with a Russian flavour. This perhaps may give your experience an added touch of authenticity. Just be sure to look up once in a while to enjoy the view out of your ‘window’ and wave to ‘passerbys’. But who are we kidding, you can always drag the cursor back.
It’s all a bit of fun, but it’s hardly replacing the real experience of travelling in person. But we can’t help think where in earth will Google maps go next?
