By far one of the most exciting times of the year to visit Rio is during Carnival, celebrated annually 40 days before Easter. Still feeling energized from the Samba-fuelled night before, take a breathtaking jog along the black and white mosaic boardwalk of world-famous Ipanema beach or if you're up for a real challenge forget the cable cars and try rock-climbing Sugar Loaf.
