Day 1:
On arrival into Kigale Airport you will be met and transferred directly to the south of the country via boat to Amahoro Island. After a relaxing lunch on the island you will spend the afternoon visiting the surrounding islands including Chapeau Napoleon. At the end of the day you will be transferred to the small town Kibure situated on the edge of Lake Kivu. Your night will be spent in the charming Centre Bethanie Guesthouse.
Day 2:
You will be driven to Nyungwe Forest National Park, stopping off on the way to visit the Bisesero Memorial Site. Nyungwe is famous for its13 species of primates including the chimpanzee. Tonight you will stay at in the only lodge in the forest, Gisakura Guesthouse.
Day 3:
Explore the Nyungwe National Park, tracking chimpanzees and other primates. In the afternoon you can visit the National Museums in the town of Butare. Tonight you will lodge in the family-run Chez Lando hotel.
Day 4:
This morning you will be driven west to the northern part of Lake Kivu where you will spend the day at leisure in Gisenyi. You will staying at the new Lake Kivu Serena Hotel with wonderful views across the water.
Days 5:
In the afternoon you will be driven north to the bustling market town of Ruhengeri. From there you will head to the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes to Sabyinyo Silverback lodge an ideal base for your gorilla trekking.
Day 6:
This morning you will meet with your ranger and drive up to the Parc Nationals des Volcans. The Parc is considered to be the best place in the world to track the rare and captivating mountain gorilla.
Day 7:
This morning you will head to Akagera National Park where you will find the archetypal African savannah landscape of tangled acacia woodland interspersed with open grassland. Known for herds of elephant and buffalo as well as giraffes, zebras and a few cats. You will spend the night at Akagera Game Lodge, the only hotel within the 90,000 hectare Akagera National Park.
Day 8:
In the morning you will enjoy game drives through the Akagera National Park and in the afternoon you will be able to take a boat trip on Lake Ihema. Again tonight you will enjoy the magnificent views from Akagera Game Lodge.
Day 9:
This morning you will be driven back to Kigali to explore the city at leisure and spend the day visiting some of the Memorial Sights. Your night will be spent Chez Lando.
Day 10:
You will be transferred to the airport to catch your afternoon flight out of Kigali.
