Whilst the Amazon may be the internationally recognized name when people reference the rainforests and wildlife of Brazil, ask a Brazilian and they'll tell you it's all about the Pantanal.
A vast area of lakes, marsh grasses and swamps, the Pantanal is a beautiful region in central southern Brazil and home to an incredible array of wildlife. From caimans, piranhas and anaconda to macaws, pumas and howler monkeys, you'll see them all during a stay in the Pantanal; this place is an adventure lover's dream and offers a type of safari like no other in the world.
Staying in a comfortable
pousada you will spend your days exploring the area. From guided walks, kayaking across the many lakes and horse-back rides at dusk, you will be able to witness the wildlife and landscapes through a range of different activities. In the evening relax by the pool, or watch the wildlife from your bedroom as various animals congregate around the lakes surrounding the lodge.
For the braver traveller we can arrange opportunities to go fishing for piranha and spend time hunting anaconda, arguably the greatest predator of the area alongside the puma. A stay in the Pantanal should be followed with some beach time in one of Brazil's world famous coastal towns; some time to wind down on a pristine, white beach will definitely be welcomed. How about heading up to Salvador and The Kiaroa Eco Resort on the legendary Bahia coast?
