Belgrade - definitely one of the hippest cities in Europe - offers nightlife that sets the benchmark for the continent, not to mention a newly thriving cultural scene that makes the Serbian capital a hot list destination today. And the best bit? It's only a two hour flight away from the UK.
Spend your days exploring the beautiful old town, fortress and orthodox churches of the Kalemegdan area; take in some of the last remnants of the Ottoman Empire, before immersing yourself in the exceptional nightlife. A true party city, Belgrade offers a fantastic restaurant, bar and music scene that is stylish and classy with a modern twist. Take for example the nightspots which float on the boats, barges and rafts lining the Danube and Sava rivers - a far cry from a dingy basement bar in London.
Unlike other eastern European cities such as Budapest (now reaching saturation point on the tourist trail), Belgrade remains a well-kept secret. The Serbian capital offers up a healthy dose of hedonism mixed with some of Europe's best cultural offerings, all untainted by roving stag parties and school groups. But this is unlikely to be the case for long; as word spreads about this uber cool weekend break destination, we're sure the crowds will start to flock - it's just that good.
