All Year Round
Over the last few years, the incredibly beautiful and friendly capital of Slovenia has been creating a buzz as the perfect destination for a city break in Europe. Now is the ideal time to visit, before the masses get wind of it and the city becomes (whisper it) the next Prague.
From its candy coloured architecture, to its hilltop castle, willow shaded rivers and cobbled piazzas that play host to a vibrant café and restaurant culture, Ljubljana exudes romance and style. Spend a weekend exploring the historic central market and Old Town or some of the outstanding museums and galleries, such as the National Gallery and Museum of Modern Art. For something more adventurous, perhaps take in a spot of ballooning, giving you incredible views of the city described by Conde Nast Traveller as being "Impossibly Pretty".
Great times to visit are during the city's summer festival (throughout July and August) that celebrates music, opera, dance and street theatre in venues throughout the city or in early June during the wine fair. But in all honesty, you don't need an event as a reason to attend. The city's year round attractions are more than enough. Perhaps the best one is to escape for a weekend of style in a city before everyone else does.
