Why 'That Sweet Trip'?
Well history (and we mean way back) says that the phrase ‘honeymoon’ has very ‘sweet’ origins. One source says it refers to the fact that the first month of your marriage is the sweetest month of your life – hence ‘honey’ for sweet, and ‘moon’ for the period of time, long before calendars came in.
Yes it’s all a bit of a yawn but our favourite version says ‘honey’ was a reference to the vast quantity of honey infused mead given to the couple by the bride’s father for the first month after their wedding. Normally we’d say yes please but the prospect of warm mead on a hot beach? No thanks. All the same we like the ‘sweet’ history to the post-wedding trip. Long may it remain as ‘That Sweet Trip’
