You’d be forgiven for thinking that the view from your room was a movie-set backdrop. As you pull open the curtains to reveal the majestic volcano literally on your doorstep, it’s hard to believe that this unobstructed view is all for you. The billowing smoke is the only indication that Costa Rica’s active Arenal is very much alive. But don’t be fooled by its calm exterior. It is best enjoyed from afar. And the Hotel Kioro offers the best in luxury access.
