Oficina de Agosto, Tiradentes, Brazil
Posted: 31 Jul 2008, Region: South America
Straw hats and football jerseys from Copa Cabana beach not feeling particularly memorable? Well, if you want a real souvenir from Brazil you’ll have to go off the beaten track - and believe us, it’s worth it. In the picturesque town of Tiradentes along a remote dirt road is Oficina de Agosta, a running workshop that sells beautiful sculptures, wall hangings and playful furniture made from recycled wood and iron. Toty (the workshop’s founder) and his 60 apprentices infuse all that Brazil has to offer into each unique piece. Trust us, you won’t be able to resist taking something home.
