Snorkelling in the Galapagos
Galapagos Islands, Ecuador
Posted: 25 Apr 2008, Region: South America
OK, so it’s not exactly a top secret destination but there’s not a lot of explanation needed as to why the Galapagos has made it into our Little Black Book. With the number of visitors limited you’ll have endless beaches - islands even - to yourself, see some of the most exotic wildlife in the world and be as away from it all as you possibly could be. One thing you can’t miss is the diving. And the great thing is it doesn’t have to be scuba. Snorkelling around the Galapagos is just as gratifying and the visibility truly stunning. It is the only place in the tropics where you can expect to swim with penguins, sea lions and turtles, not to mention the odd shark. But be warned: the bull sea-lions like to chomp on flippers.
