Skydive over Everest
Want something to set you apart in the pub? Certainly sir. You'll begin with a six-day acclimatisation trek and a blessing in the Buddhist Tengboche Monastery in the Sherpa region of Nepal, before the small matter of a freefall from 29,500ft while you think to yourself, "Yes, that Everest really is pretty high, isn't it?"
Anchor Up in Alaska
If you can't decide what you want to do, do it all n Alaska. Bomb for 1,000 miles on snowmobiles, try heli-skiing (jumping out of a chopper into the powder), kayaking or go whale watching - if your idea of fun involves something white, wet, and cold, Anchorage is where you want to be.
Check Out Chernobyl
If a city break in Ukrainian capital Kiev starts to bore you, head out to Pripyat, the irradiated husk of a town that had the misfortune to be downwind when Chernobyl's reactor collapsed in 1986. A rusting funfair, looted houses and cinema are slowly falling apart and can all be explored. You'll be offered raw eggs and hooch by the few remaining locals. Politely decline.
Muck About in the Antarctic
Captain Scott's camp, deep in the Wohlthat Mountains of the Antarctic, is long gone, but an exact replica now stands in its place, and it's taking bookings. Try climbing up unconquered mountains, abseiling down ice cliffs, Skidoo riding or kite-surfing.
